Last weekend, Sarah and I had a few days off and went to Stradbroke Island on Saturday, Montville, Maleny and Caboulture on Sunday, and Mooloolaba on Monday. Stradbroke Island is an island just a ferry ride away from the mainland. It took a bus, train, ferry and bus to get there, and then the same to get back, but it was well worth it! We saw heaps of dolphins playing in the waves just below us as we sat and ate our lunch. Here is a video...
p.s. if you listen closely you will hear the lady next to me going ballistic every time a dolphin jumps.

Then, as we did some bushwalking (hiking) we saw humpback whales off in the distance. This was quite exciting. Supposedly from July-November, the whales pass by as they migrate from Antarctica north to the Great Barrier Reef.
see the whale? you can see the top of it as it comes up for a breath
some more pics of the day...
So, Maleny and Montville are cute little towns more inland, with little shops and cafes...pretty much a tourist trap, but fun nonetheless.
Our last stop on the trip was to Mooloolaba and Underwater World, which is basically an aquarium. Atlanta's Aquarium is still by far the best ever. But it was still a fun way to spend a few hours.
