Mom comes for a nice visit

Well, my mom was here for a week at the beginning of September and we had a wonderful time. The first day she was here (Friday), she got in at like 8 A.M. and I was determined to keep her up for the day to keep jet lag from getting the best of her. We went straight for the Koala Sanctuary here in Brisbane and came up close and personal with some kangaroos and some koalas. We were even able to cuddle a koala (for the small price of purchasing a photo), and hand feed kangaroos. It was a great experience and very fun!

The next day we headed with Sarah to Noosa for the night, stopping in Mooloolaba along the way. In Noosa, my mom and I were treated to a nice hour long massage on the beach, with the sound of waves crashing in the background and the cool breeze blowing over us. It was nice and relaxing, definitely worth it! We headed up the coast for a nice walk, spotting a koala along the way, this one was not as active as ones we have seen previously. I guess it is hard to find them active when they sleep TWENTY hours a day!

On Monday we headed to Byron Bay for the night. Byron Bay is down in New South Wales (the state just south of Queensland). We have been there a few times and it is definitely on the top of the list as favorite places, and only about 2 hours drive from Brisbane. We had some fun hanging out on the beach, and then watching the huge waves crash into the rocks for a few hours. Twisted Sista proved to be our favorite place to get a good coffee and a muffin. On our way back to Brisbane, we stopped along the way in Binna Burra National Park for a quick hike and fun pictures with road signs.

On Thursday, my mom's last full day here in Australia, we went for the day over to Stradbroke Island. It was just as beautiful and breathtaking as the two other times we have been there. It was a nice way for my mom to end her vacation as we did some laying out and some walking for nice photo-ops.

my mom and i, of course

My mom's time here in Australia was too short lived...one week is just not enough time. Six months has proved to not be enough time either, it seems =(
