Well, we went to Melbourne for just a few days, and I must say I was a bit disappointed. It had been so hyped up, I think, and then it turned out to be just like any regular city. I definitely liked Sydney more. The first day we got there, we had rented a car from the airport and drove west on the Great Ocean Road, and stayed in a cute little bed and breakfast kind of in the middle of nowhere. The Great Ocean Road was amazing...we saw the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, and London Bridge, as well as tons of koalas up in the trees as we passed through a thick patch of eucalyptus trees. I think we saw about 15-20 koalas just hanging out in the trees. We also saw an echidna as we were driving along, I think they look like little hedge hogs with their spiney fur. Way cute! The next couple of days in Melbourne we spent shopping on Chapel Street (this is the big deal about Melbourne), hanging out around the Yarra River, visiting St. Kilda (a little beach town), touring the observatory, and just walking around. I think by the time it was time for our Melbourne trip, we were both kinda over traveling and planning, that it was more of a chore, than time to enjoy being on a holiday. Sad that it got to that point, but it really was hard work going on trips all the time, as weird as that sounds. I am glad we were able to visit Melbourne, I definitely would have regretted it had we left it out of our travels.
